Today Emma received a whole bunch of visitors who flew in from many miles away just to meet her! Grandma Carmen and stepbrother Matthew came 2,419 miles from Corpus Christi, Texas. Also, Aunt Kay Lee Kennedy and her fiancé, Sang Tae Jun flew 1,725 miles from El Paso, Texas, and 801 miles from Oakland, California, respectively.
What a trip right?
Grandma Carmen came into the house and immediately went to meet her 8th grandchild for the first time. Emma was sleeping quietly the whole time though.
Her stepbrother Matthew came and gave Emma a kiss right away...
Grandma couldn't take her eyes off Emma!
The whole gang in the shrinking living room... a whole sea of red in the center! And then, on the left, you'll notice that Kaiden immediately had a new playmate: Matthew.
Matthew's silly quotes:
Matthew's silly quotes:
- "Oh dad! Can I please stay here to sleep tonight?" (He thought they'd be going to a hotel perhaps?)
- "Wow! Look at all these trains!! It makes me feel like a kid again!" (He is only 10 years old, ladies and gentlemen...)
- "Can I call [Kaiden] 'dai dai'?" ("Dai dai" in Cantonese means "little brother," a common term to address any un/related younger boy. But Matthew was overjoyed at the notion that Kaiden could be called his brother.)
- "Can [Kaiden] call me 'gor gor'?" ("Gor gor" in Cantonese means "older brother," another common term to address any un/related older male peer. When we told him that of course he could, Matthew was so happy!)
Just for reference, this is Kay and Sang. Kay is a dear family friend (who Jess met in OIS in 2002), and she recently got engaged to Sang.
The baby litmus test.. Emma rested really well on Sang's shoulder, and he wouldn't even let Kay have a turn!
For dinner, Jess and Kay & gang went to visit the Osborne family.
After dinner at home, Matthew was very nice and read two books to his new little brother Kaiden.
